About Me

My photo
I LOVE scrap'n, craft'n and bake'n!!! I try all sorts of different tricks and I am a big fan of LOTS of color :) I bake and craft for my husband who has a love hate relationship with my baking and I bake for our wonderful Mini Church that happens every Wednesday. It's a great way to start our night and to gear us up to dig into the Word of God. I take different ideas that I see all around the world and combine them to make my own fun new project. I also have some great originals :] It's so amazing to see how creative people are and I love a good challenge. I have aprons & picture boards on my website www.DeLo-Designs.com and on Facebook, search for DeLo Designs. "Sassy Cakes" is our baking company, we have a Facebook page up with a lot of our creations listed on the site. Please check us out and "like" us :] Thank you and enjoy the site!!!

Snickerdoodle Blondies

OK so tonight is Mini Church night which means it's time for Jesus and snacks. I babysat last night so I got home pretty late. As I was staring at the baby monitor I was trying to think of something that had few ingredients and was simple to make. Then it just came to me, litterally. I had gotten and email update from a blog I follow, Ryan's Baking Blog, with the perfect snack, Snickerdoodle Blondies! They were SO easy and SO delicious! I could of got away with saying they were hard to make because they were that good! lol!

OK so here's what you'll need...

Ingredients:
2 2/3 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 cups light brown sugar, packed
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 eggs, room temperature
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 9×13-inch baking pan (or use a nonstick cooking spray).

In a medium bowl, sift and whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter and brown sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition and scraping the sides of the bowl as necessary. Beat in vanilla.

Reduce mixer speed to low and gradually add in the flour mixture, beating until just combined. Give a final stir with a rubber spatula to ensure any crumbly bits on the bottom of the bowl are incorporated.

Spread dough into an even layer in the baking pan. I took Tracey’s advice and used my hands with a piece of plastic wrap in between them and the dough so nothing would stick.

In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly over the top of the batter.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the surface springs back when gently pressed. Transfer pan to a wire rack and allow blondies to cool completely before cutting.

They will keep well for a few days at room temperature in the pan covered with aluminum foil.

I hope you all enjoy them as much as I did!!

The Wedding Album... (continued)

I am making MAJOR progress on this album you guys and I plan to take'r home this weekend! I highly doubt I'll end up finishing but it's nice to dream. lol Anyhow I decided I wanted to do a really fun theme for the family page and I just love nature and animals so I decided I wanted to incorporate my "Give a Hoot" cartridge with this one. How many of you can guess my theme??? I hope all of you...
Get it???
THE APPLE DOESN'T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE!!!

My Lovely Family
 The Family Layout

Sorry about the "not so great" pictures but it's what I have... I am trying to do my whole book in chronological order so next after family is the "walk", the walk down the aisle I mean. WHOO HOO!! I was so nervous I almost passed out! Also in this layout you will get to see us laugh and pray together. Two of our favorite things. God really blessed us that day and everyday leading up to our "Big Day",  and since then. He is sooo good to us.
Our Flower Girl (Marley, her poor head is cut off here) and Our Handsome Ring Bearer Brody
 The Walk, The Prayer

OK folks here comes the laughing... Jeremy was so excited to be my husband he shouted, "YES!!" before our pastor, Pastor Paul, could even finish asking the question. He also was trying to put my ring on the wrong finger (hence me cracking me up). As we were pronounced we walked down and J gave a big, "Yes!" again as you can see. I'm so glad he was so excited!!! We just love being married, can you tell we are newly weds yet? lol

Laughing and Excitement (Also My Special Note to J)
 Cake Time!!

The Layout

Well I can't wait to post the finished product... till then you will get bits and pieces. I also have some Cookies N' Cream Cream cupcakes coming up, so be waiting! They are going to be DELISH!

Blessings,

DeLo Designs

OK so I think all of you know by now that I LOVE crafting. I love everything from baking to paper, I LOVE IT ALL! I am going to be doing a lot of baking this weekend and will also try to get some more pages done on my wedding album, but most of all I have some fabric to use up for my picture boards (I LOVE making these). I have been a little busy with work stuff but now I have time for the important "things", LIVING LIFE!

A custom Disney "Cars" order for the coolest little boy I know...

Here's a Lady Bug board that was a special order for a very special 2 year old...
I love this Cupcake one I did for both my sisters...

I do ANY kind of board you want. You just tell me what fabric you like and I GO GET IT! So everything is custom. I do have some already made boards that you can get right away. I have these in stock right now.
My Purple Zebra...
 "Girlie" Argyle...
 Retro Purple Flowers...
"Heroes" Firemen... Made this for my Hubs :]

I really enjoy making these because I have a gagillion pictures to hang and I don't want a million frames all over my house. I barely have any wall space as it is. So these make it really easy to fit a bunch of great pictures in a smaller space where everyone can still see them. Once I saw these I knew I had to make them! You can find them at www.DeLo-Designs.com or you can email me at DeLoDesignsHB@gmail.com, I am also on Facebook under "DeLo Designs". They are $20.00 for a premade one (19"x19") and $22.00 for any custom order. If you live close you can pick it up or I can meet you with it. The shipping is pretty expensive due to it being an "awkward" item to ship. Till next time where we explore the making of fondant together....

Crafting in Lieu of Cupcakes...

Yes, you heard it right, it's a scrapbook post today! I figured until I can get some cuppies out of the oven I would blog about my other favorite hobby... Scrap'n! I will apologize in advance for the picture quality. I decided I would FINALLY start on my wedding album. I am so happy with how it's turning out. For those of you who have NEVER scrap'd before, it is a very long process with all the embellishments (or lies as Jeremy calls them), glue, tape, dye cuts...the list goes on! Anyways the long time spent is so worth the end result.

Here is the Fist Page.. Simple but nice
Inside Double Page
Third Page (Family)

I had so much fun doing these pages... I LOVE purple (obviously) It was the color of my wedding so the book had to be purple themed too. I can't wait to get more done this weekend. I have been pretty busy with work stuff... but now I got some free time!

This Last weekend I also did a baby shower card, I figured why not post  it with my scrapbook... First comes marriage then comes baby *wink wink* I really like funky stuff, but I also can go polar opposite with chic and simple. I think they both look nice.  Considering our friend was having a little girl I decided pink was pretty mandatory.

Pink Flower Front with Distressed ink for "Congrats"
Inside of the Card, beige in-lay with Flowers and Button Middles
The card turned out great and I was really happy with it! Jennie (the lady of the hour) was super happy with it too. Along with this I gave her and Matt (her husband and J's long time BFF) a "Baby" word book that my sister creates and sells. You can see what I gave her at Coley's Craft Corner. She has them for order and she is obviously amazing with the Cricky. Well I will "talk" to you all soon. I'm doing a practice run this Saturday for some cupcakes for my friend's daughter Izzy. She is turning 1!!! I believe we are making Giraffes so that should be fun... Have a blessed week everyone!

"Fluffernutter Cupcakes"

Well let me first apologize for my hiatus, I have been INSANELY busy, OK now we can move onto how fabulous these "Fluffernutter" cupcakes are! Wow! The frosting I could eat by the spoon full (and I did), the creamy marshmallow fluff inside was to die for, and the vanilla based cake tied in all the flavors perfectly.

So today is Wednesday which means MINI CHURCH night!!!! Yahoo!!! The group is much like these cupcakes, sweet inside and out... As of lately we have been studying what kind of church Jesus would want to attend. It's where He is the focus, not us! Well let me just tell you Hope, and our awesome mini church does a great job in keeping Him the focus so I like to bake something that is as amazing as they are.

Now onto how to make these bad boys... I found this recipe on Gingerbread Bagels and they looked too good not to make. Here's what you will need:
Fluffernutter Cupcakes

Vanilla Cupcakes
2 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup very soft shortening (not melted but really soft!)
2 large eggs, at room temperature
3/4 cup whole milk
1 Tablespoon vanilla extract

Filling
Marshmallow Cream

Peanut Butter Frosting
1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
7 Tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 cup creamy peanut butter (not the natural kind)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup heavy whipping cream

Decoration
Mini Marshmallows, cut in half

OK here's a tip, when you are squeezing in the filling make sure to squeeze till the top of the cupcake rises (nearly cracks). Others wise the cupcake doesn't have the filling it needs. Also make sure your cupcakes are completely cool before piping the fluff inside and frosting the top. IF you have any left overs make sure to refrigerate due to the heavy whipping cream in the frosting. Most importantly... ENJOY!!
